The law firm obtained a settlement in the amount of $1,600,000 for a client who had a pre-existing brain hydrocephalus.

The client was hurt when an 18-wheel tractor-trailer truck crashed into the rear of the car that the client was riding in.  The unexpected impact threw the client forward with enough force to cause the front of the client’s brain to strike the front interior of the skull.  This close head injury caused a cerebral hemorrhage.

Our client’s injury was confirmed on x-ray and CAT scan examinations.  The severity of he injury was confirmed by the client’s neurologist, neurosurgeon, and neuradiologist.

Local store pays $350,000 for failure to provide adequate security

The law was responsible for resolving a case against a large chain of retail stores that failed to provide adequate security for their customers.  The large settlement will serve to prompt the stores to now provide a safe environment for the public.  The settlement will also provide a source of funds for our client’s past and future medical expenses, past future wage losses, and his pain and suffering.

Our firm was asked to represent a man who went to a local retail store.  As the man entered the store, an unknown assailant first held up our client and then shot him through the leg while store employees watched.
Before the lawsuit was filed, the law firm found that there was a significant amount of crime in the immediate area where the store was located.  It was also discovered that the store knew of the high level of crime and chose not to employ an adequate security plan.  They clearly put corporate profits before the safety of their customers.

Regrettably, our client sustained permanent injuries to the nerves of his leg.  The injuries were not treatable and our client lost the function of his leg, which prevents him from returning to his job.

Rental car company evaluates case at $1,000,000

A rental car shuttle bus discharged our clients two lanes from curbside at Miami International Airport.  As our client stepped off the bus, she was run over by a motorist who had just taken his son to the airport. Our client sustained thirteen fractures, four months of continuous hospital care and five years of physician care.  Additionally, our client is a high school art teacher and was unable to return to work for one year.

A lawsuit was filed against the rental car company.  The rental car company’s initial defense was hat it was "usual and customary" to discharge their customers in the second and third lanes from the curb at the airports.  We took the more realistic and more sensible position that the rental car company has a duty to "safely" deliver their customers to the curbs at all airports, all the time.

The rental car company reevaluated their position, as the case got closer to trial.  They reevaluated our client’s case as having a settlement value of $1,000,000.  Our client accepted the offer.
